Frequently Asked Questions:
Is medical marijuana legal?
Yes.
Medical marijuana is legal in California and 13 other states -- Oregon, Nevada, Colorado, Hawaii, Montana, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maryland, Washington, New Mexico, Maine, Michigan and Alaska.
The Compassionate Use Act of 1996 (CUA), commonly known as CA Proposition 215, establishes a program for use of marijuana "where the medical use is deemed appropriate," specifically for treatment of "cancer, anorexia, AIDS, chronic pain, spasticity, glaucoma, arthritis, migraine, or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief."
The phrase "or any other illness for which marijuana provides relief" is broad in legal terms but generally mean any ailment that limits your ability to conduct major life activities -- mental or physical.
